Sometimes Being Single Just Sucks.

I’m back! Today I thought I’d continue on my thirty-days of single blog challenge. Today is day two. The prompt for today is: Describe a moment or day when being single really sucked. Because who doesn’t like to rehash their worst moments of being single? 😉

I could sit here and tell you that being single sucks on Valentine’s Day.

I could sit here and tell you that being single sucks on holidays.

I could sit here and tell you that being single sucks when you’re the only single person in a room full of couples.

But I’m not going to do that.

Has there been a moment when I’ve looked around and thought, ‘It has to be better than this’? Of course I have. I have written about the fact that I’m single. I have written about embracing being single and exactly how awesome it can be. If you let it. Despite all that, I’m only human.

Occasionally, I get lonely. It happens. I’m only human.

I’m not going to sugar coat it: Being single can really suck sometimes.

You can be walking down the street, in your own merry world, then realise that everyone around you is in their own little loved up bubble. It can feel like a sucker punch to the gut. That’s probably when I turn into an emotional eater and want all the chocolate in the world…or is that to do with a particular time in the month? Who knows 😉

Yes. Being single can suck. I’m supposed to be writing about when being single really sucked for me, so I guess I should stop procrastinating. Right? Rip the band-aid.
Sometimes being single just sucks. There’s no other way to describe it. Maybe you’ve seen too many ‘loved up’ couples that day. Maybe you’ve seen an annoying post on Instagram. Maybe it’s Valentine’s Day. Maybe you saw your ex-boyfriend with that girl. Whatever it is – sometimes being single just sucks.

However, the absolute worst moment of being single is right after the break up.

You might have dumped the person, but there’s still a slight glimmer of hope that it’s going to work out in the end. Both of you might go about your separate lives for six months then run into each other on the street and realise that you had a good thing. Ba-da bing, ba-da boom – you’re back together. Sort of like a fairy-tale.

A day goes by and you don’t talk to them.

You come home and you realise that they aren’t going to be there to ask you how your day went.

Your ‘standard’ takeout order is suddenly changed because it’s only you now.

A week goes by and you don’t talk to them.

Something happens at work and you absolutely need to tell someone, then you realise that you don’t have a person anymore.

Your ‘standard’ takeout order gets changed back to double the amount because it’s only you now.

A month goes by and you don’t talk to them.

You get sick of coming home to an empty bed/house all the time.

Your ‘standard’ takeout order suddenly includes dessert because you need the comfort and you found out that your ex-boyfriend is dating that girl.

Those are the moments when being single can (and generally does) suck the most. Does it mean that my takeout order has doubled with every break up? No. Does it mean that I add dessert to my order occasionally? Heck yes. Every girl needs her chocolate 😉

Being single does suck sometimes. I’ve recently gotten back into the dating game because one of my best friends thought I should and he set me up on a date with a guy who is also his friend. It’s been awhile and I’m happy that it’s taken so long, but I have to get used to having someone around. Sheesh it’s hard work even if it’s only dating hahaha

Haha getting used to having someone around is real! No lie. That’s probably the weirdest part of it all haha. I’ve recently culled my group. To just about zero. I just want to focus on other things, you know? Ain’t got no time for no man 😉
